Our colleagues at Paris United are reporting that Serie A side Napoli are continuing to quietly pursue a deal for PSG striker Edinson Cavani.
The outlet claims that certain members of the Les Parisiens board are still not fully happy with him, but sources contacted by Get French Football News believe that the club is looking for options to raise cash if their FFP situation turns sour, with UEFA having recently announced an inquiry into the recent decision by their executive body to not punish PSG.
As a result, the club’s Sporting Director Antero Henrique has mandated several agents to find potential exit routes for the Uruguayan international. On the player side however, PSG have assured Cavani that he is an indispensable part of the set-up and that they are counting on him for the 2018/19 campaign.
Cavani wants to stay in Paris, but is disappointed with the double-sided approach they are taking to his future. His children, over whom he does not have custody, currently live in Naples, with Napoli continually very interested in signing El Matador.
Carlo Ancelotti has been in contact with the player, although the former PSG manager’s number one target is French forward Karim Benzema, who himself is not particularly interested in a move to Serie A.
From the Napoli side, they are working internally to see if they could offer a financial package that could interest PSG but that their own accounts could stomach.
A difficult situation for all involved.
