Official | Amiens have signed Saman Ghoddos from Östersunds

Amiens have today completed the long-awaited signing of attacker Saman Ghoddos from Swedish side Östersunds.

The Iranian midfielder has signed a five-year deal at the Stade de la Licorne, moving for a fee totalling €4m, making the transfer the third-most expensive export in Swedish Allsvenskan history.

The 24-year-old – who can operate as an attacking midfielder, striker or winger – has been a key player for Östersunds over the past two seasons, mustering 27 goals in his 63 appearances.

Having received a solitary international cap by his native Sweden last year, the Malmo-born midfielder switched allegiances following an approach from Carlos Queiroz, where he was advised to apply for Iranian citizenship beforehand. He has since collected 11 caps for Iran and featured as a substitute in all three Group games at Russia 2018.

Amiens have beaten Spanish side Huesca and fellow Ligue 1 rival Rennes to the signing of Ghoddos, following lengthy negotiations throughout the summer window between the Iranian and the three clubs.
