Official | Amiens pull off Ganso scoop

Amiens have pulled off arguably the most remarkable signing of deadline day, announcing the arrival of Brazilian midfielder Paulo Henrique Ganso to the Stade de la Licorne.

The playmaker joins the Ligue 1 side on a one-year loan agreement that includes an option to buy.

The 28-year-old has endured an unhappy two-year spell in Andalusia, having been out of favour with managers Eduardo Berrizo and Vincenzo Montella, Ganso has only made 18 appearances for Sevilla.

However, the Brazilian’s pedigree and talent is unquestioned. Having developed at Santos alongside global star Neymar, he moved to domestic giants São Paulo in 2012 where he began to flourish and his accomplished dribbling and passing ability became a sight to behold.

The signing of Ganso is, in no uncertain terms, a massive coup for Les Licornes. Prior to the Brazilian’s arrival was confirmed by Amiens, the club’s most lavish outlay had been for the forward Saman Ghoddos from Östersunds for €3.6m.

Ganso’s current contract at Sevilla is due to run until 2021 and he is thought to earn around €2m a year in wages, but if the attacking midfielder can stay injury free and rekindle the form he showed earlier in his career, Amiens would be wise to exercise their option to buy at the end of the season.
