Official | AS Monaco confirm the departure of João Moutinho to Wolves

Newly-promoted Premier League side Wolverhampton Wanderers have today completed the signing of Portuguese midfielder João Moutinho from AS Monaco for a fee of £5m.

The central midfielder- who can also operate on the flank or as a defensive midfielder- has penned a two-year contract at Molineux, leaving Monaco after five years in the South of France, in a period where he scored 9 goals in 158 appearances.

Moutinho’s transfer represents a major coup for Nuno Espirito Santos’ side, as the 31-year-played a major role in Monaco’s 2017 Ligue 1 title triumph, as well as Portugal’s Euro 2016 conquest the previous summer.

The former Sporting Lisbon and Porto player will add to the considerable Portuguese contingent already at Wolves, including Rúben Neves, Ivan Cavaleiro, Helder Costa, Diogo Jota and the recently-signed Rui Patricio.
