Caen have completed the signing of defender Paul Baysse from Bordeaux.
The 30-year-old central defender moves to the Normandy side on a season-loan deal, after being told he is not part of Gus Poyet’s first team plans at Les Girondins.
The loan agreement is not understood to include an option for Caen to purchase the defender.
Baysse had spent the last campaign on loan at Málaga – who last season suffered the disappointment of relegation to the Spanish Segunda Division – making 15 appearances for the club.
The former French youth international has also had previous spells with various clubs across France including Sedan, Brest, Saint-Étienne and Nice.
Baysse becomes Caen’s seventh recruit in a busy summer of transfer activity for new manager Fabien Mercadal.
