MLS side Montreal Impact have completed the signing of Bacary Sagna on a deal that will run until the end of the year, with the option for an extension into 2019.
The former Auxerre, Arsenal and Manchester City right-back spent the second half of last season playing for Benevento in the Serie A, making 13 appearances and scoring 1 goal in a campaign that saw the Italian side demoted into the second tier.
Sagna made a name for himself in the Premier League for Arsenal as a consistent figure for seven years under Arsène Wenger, and has collected 65 international caps- representing France in the 2010 and 2014 World Cup tournaments.
Montreal Impact’s Head Coach Rémi Garde expressed his delight in having signed Sagna in a club statement: “I’m very happy with Bacary’s arrival. He’s a player with a great career who’s still very motivated to come and help the Impact defy its end of season challenge. His personality, experience, and overall game will be a plus for our team”.
