Newly-promoted Ligue 1 side Reims have completed the signing of defensive midfielder Alaixys Romao on a 2-year contract from Olympiakos.
The player received an 11th hour offer from Caen, but decided to keep his word and complete a move to Reims,
The 34-year-old moves to Stade Auguste-Delaune after two seasons with the 2017 Greek champions, in which time Romao apperared 35 times for the Greek side, scoring 3 goals.
The French-born midfielder will be sure to bring experience to the heart of the Reims midfield, having collected 67 international caps for Togo since 2005, and has also had 3-year spells at Marseille, Lorient and Grenoble.
Club President Jean-Pierre Caillot reacted with delight to the club website: “He is a player who has the combination of experience at the high level, is a very consistent player and has a winning mentality”.
