Former French youth international Clément Michelin will be plying his trade in Ligue 2 for the rest of the season, in the red and white of AC Ajaccio. Michelin’s parent club Toulouse today found an agreement with Ajaccio for a season-long loan of the 21-year-old that should offer the promising right-back plenty of playing time in French football’s second tier.
Michelin is a well-rounded, ambitious defender capable of playing both as a right-back or right midfielder due in part to his ability to get forward and influence play with dangerous runs and crosses. Having appeared in 16 Ligue 1 matches, Michelin will be expected to impress in a league where the level of play isn’t quite as high as what he is used to.
This move away from Toulouse will be Michelin’s first venture away from the Southern city after 11 consecutive years with Les Violets. However, the 21-year-old is excited to experience a new environment, a sentiment he made evident when speaking to Ajaccio for the official transfer announcement.
“I’m very happy and impatient to start this season with my new team. I’m proud to join AC Ajaccio, and motivated and ambitious to give everything for the club… I always watched ACA last season, I like their state of their mind, their mentality,” Michelin declared.
