Squad revolt threatened at Nîmes with Ligue 1 just a week away

L’Équipe reported this morning that newly-promoted to Ligue 1 outfit Nîmes were facing the real prospect of a squad revolt of match bonus payments, with the league season just a week away from commencing.

The entire controversy begun when the players were reportedly offered lower match bonuses than they had received in Ligue 2 last season.

This prompted Pierrick Valdivia and Féthi Harek to enter into negotiations with the club’s board, and after several weeks, a compromise has still not been found.

The situation has got so out of hand that the players have won the support of manager Bernard Blaquart, who demanded that the board resolve the situation immediately and even threatened to boycott tonight’s friendly vs Guingamp, before ultimately electing to  be on the touchline for it.
