Foot Mercato report that St Étienne manager Jean-Louis Gasset contacted former French international attacking midfielder Samir Nasri recently about joining the project.
The 31-year-old is currently serving a football ban after being found guilty of doping, which elapses in August, therefore Nasri as a free agent may look to continue his career.
Unfortunately for Les Verts, the former Manchester City man is understood to have politely declined the approach.
