Incoming PSG manager Thomas Tuchel is already working on the Ligue 1 champions’ summer transfer window, according to Le Parisien.
At left-back, Tuchel has decided that he has identified a weak point, but is not targeting Portuguese international left-back Raphaël Guerreiro as intensely as certain outlets have claimed in the past. Instead, Toucher’s eyes are firmly on FC Augsburg full-back Philipp Max – the 24-year-old revelation of the Bundesliga season is expected to cost between €20m and €25m. PSG are expected to rid of Layvin Kurzawa for around the same price.
Tuchel also wants to add a 4th central defender, to enable him to have the tactical flexibility to employ a system using 5 at back on certain occasions. As a result, Tuchel is looking at Dortmund defender Ömer Toprak, whose contract expires in 2021 – he is expected to cost around €15m.
Finally, the German wants to make a signing to bolster the central midfield, and is weighing up the possibility of approaches for Julian Weigl (Dortmund) and Max Meyer (Schalke) – both individuals are 22, with the latter out of contract at the end of this season. A move for Weigl is expected to be more costly, at more than €30m.
