Speaking in an interview with RMC tonight, during which Abou Diaby announced his retirement from professional football, the 32-year-old also heaped praise on French World Cup winner and Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba.
“He is the prototype for the modern footballer. Today, he is one of the best in the world in his position. I really enjoy watching him. He has achieved so many great things in his career. I just want to tell him that he has all the qualities required to win the Ballon D’Or.”
“It is up to him to think about the way to evolve his game. But he has all the qualities. He is a player who we expect a lot of and I think that we are far too harsh with him. He is young and he still has many great years ahead of him. I am convinced that if he is able to evolve his style of play, he will have an exceptional career, even if it has already been fantastic.”
