L’Équipe report that AC Milan and their Sporting Director Paolo Maldini have made concrete moves in recent days to bring in French midfielder Jordan Veretout from Fiorentina.
Napoli are very interested in the 26-year-old and had held advanced talks with Fiorentina, but today Carlo Ancelotti’s side have told Veretout that he will need to wait, because they want to make player sales in this position first.
Under contract until 2021, Arsenal have also registered an interest in signing the former Nantes midfielder, but he has a preference for remaining in Italy.
Now Paolo Maldini has held long talks with the Frenchman and his words are understood to have excited Veretout about the prospect of joining AC Milan. Contract talks have begun between the player’s camp and the club. But the most difficult part will be convincing Fiorentina to lower their demands, which stand at €35m.
