Anthony Martial: “Rashford & I interchange a lot to try to catch the opposition off-guard.”

Speaking in an interview with Canal + last week, Manchester United attacker Anthony Martial discussed his positioning and more.

“I am playing in a #9 role but Marcus (Rashford) and I interchange positions a lot, so sometimes I find myself on the left-wing and him centrally, it is our attempt to catch the opposition off guard as much as possible. We have been together for years now and so we know each other well. We have similar qualities, but we are able to find each other well. Being out wide doesn’t affect me at all, you actually have more room for manoeuvre as an attacker out wide… We all know the passing qualities of Paul (Pogba), it’s just up to me to call for the ball at the right time and make good runs and goals will come. We work a lot in training with the coach. He was a top finisher, so he is helping us on finishing. He said to me: ‘Now that you are playing centrally you need to finish, finish after your dribbles (laughs).'”
