Speaking in a documentary with France 2, Atletico Madrid attacker and Frenchman Antoine Griezmann was asked about the taboo surrounding homosexuality in football and what he would do if a team-mate came out to him.
“I would be proud that he felt he could tell me. To do it like that, publicly (Andy Brennan – a male Australian footballer). I think that it could open the door for others. If he receives criticism, because there will always be criticism… we have to encourage him to be proud and to continue to be happy. Each person has their own tastes, in love life, in everything that we like to do… Try to help the person who says it. Don’t criticise him, don’t insult him.”
