Following our reporting earlier this week, RMC‘s Belgium correspondent is this afternoon indicating that Arsenal manager Unai Emery and Thomas Meunier have been in discussions for a good month.
Mr Tavolieri also claims that the player would be enthusiastic about joining the Gunners and that there are whispers that AFC have already made a provisional contract offer to the PSG player.
The 27-year-old’s entourage believes that a transfer towards the North London club “is on the right track,” according to Paris United, with the outlet also stating that the Gunners will not submit a bid for the Belgian international until they have agreed personal terms with him. Meunier and Emery have spoken directly on multiple occasions.
“PU” elude to the fact that Arsenal’s failure to qualify for the Champions’ League could be problematic for the hopes of a deal, in that the Gunners’ transfer budget is significantly weakened.
Whilst PSG are demanding €30m for the player who has 12 months remaining on his current deal, Paris United believe that a deal could be negotiated between that price and €20m.
Manchester United remain attentive and unlike Arsenal have the financial muscle to easily afford this deal and strengthen in other areas.
