Arsène Wenger: “One must behave with class and integrity and never forget that one must stick by the words that they use.”

Speaking at the Olympia music hall in a 2-hour Q & A in Paris last night for charity, Arsène Wenger discussed dressing room values, among other things.

“A football dressing room is 25 carnivores that can detect the slightest flutter of the coach’s eyelashes, his smallest weakness. But a coach must have faith in the man generally. He is a guide who sees things with a certain clarity and demonstrates humility at the same time. One must behave with class and integrity and never forget that one must stick by the words that they use. That concerns everyone at the club, including the gardener. A small example, at Arsenal, before each game, we put a bouquet of flowers of the colours of the opposing team in the lounge for our opponent’s club representatives… even when we played Tottenham.”
