L’Équipe report that Bordeaux are Arsenal captain Laurent Koscielny’s preferred destination after the Frenchman refused to travel on the Gunners’ US tour yesterday.
A source at Les Girondins had the following to say on the situation: “I think that he wants to come. On our side, in any case, it is work that we have put in for a long period of time. It is on the Arsenal side that things are blocked.”
Arsenal are understood to have offered the player a one-year contract extension, which is however a shorter deal than what Bordeaux, who have the advantage of being geographically situated near his birthplace of Tulle, are offering.
If English press are right to indicate that Arsenal want €10m in order to sell the 33-year-old, then a deal won’t be possible. Bordeaux are open to paying a fee, but nowhere near that amount, according to the outlet.
It is understood by Yahoo Sport FR that in parallel, Koscielny’s agent is continuing negotiations with Rennes, who are close to a salary agreement with the former Lorient man.
