Speaking in an interview with BeIN Sports, Frenchman and current Beijing Guoan boss Bruno Génésio revealed that he would like to see his contract with the Chinese Super League side extended past its current December termination point.
“Right now, my feeling is that I’d like to stay over there, if everyone agrees. I feel good. I needed to distance myself from France and from Europe. I want to continue the adventure.”
On Lyon’s troubles under Sylvinho:
The players are lacking in confidence because of his difficult period. Certain players are inhibited and can no longer take risks. For me the only option in moments like this, are to stay united, strong, between the staff, the board and the players. And to work. It will come. Lyon has always come out of moments like this. There have always been difficult times. We have got through them. Things will soon be back in order when they produce several wins in a row. When I wake up in China, with the time difference, the first thing I do is check the Lyon score. Because above all I am a Lyon fan… That is why I struggled top cope with the first criticisms I received when I was in charge.
On the quality of Chinese football:
The team I manage would probably be between 15th and 20th in Ligue 1, or maybe at the top of the Ligue 2 table.
