Speaking in an interview with RMC, AS Monaco midfielder Cesc Fabregas was asked about this summer’s transfer window saga involving PSG, Neymar and Barcelona.
“I always thought that this transfer would be very difficult to pull off. Not because Barça, PSG or Neymar didn’t want it to happen, but because it costs way too much. Barça have made big investments in recent years. They signed Griezmann for a lot of money. The player salaries are very big. So I knew it would be very difficult. Neymar is who he is. I have played with him and I have spent time by his side. He is a humble guy, with incredible talent of course. He is a great player but he is how he is. He has a life that everyone knows about, even PSG when they signed him. There is nothing new here.”
On PSG’s Champions’ League aspirations:
The last two years they’ve had injuries (Neymar especially), I can imagine it was difficult to go through. With Neymar, Mbappé, Icardi, Cavani, Verratti, this year, the Parisians could have their say in the Champions’ League, I am sure of it.
