Speaking in an interview with RMC, AS Monaco central midfielder Cesc Fabregas discussed the state of the French national team in general.
“The French national team is the best in the world. They are ready and full of confidence. A team that is both physical and full of talent. They score goals and defend well collectively. Deschamps has created a stable team that knows how to do things well, sometimes in a pragmatic way: by defending well and then with quick players like Griezmann, Mbappé, Lemar.”
“I have played with Giroud and he has his skill-sets and I perfectly understand why Deschamps has so much faith in him. They are the best national team and they showed that during the World Cup.”
On Kylian Mbappé:
Here, at Monaco, everyone speaks about him in a marvellous way. Mbappé has the winning mentality, he knows what he wants. Me, as a midfielder, I imagine playing behind an attacker like him. He has a special timing in terms of calling for the ball with his back to the defence, alongside his realism and determination as well as his talent and his qualities, that gives him an enormous amount of overall quality. I remember when I was his age and I had to face Dennis Bergkamp or Thierry Henry, you had to make sure you weren’t scared and I have this same sensation in front of him. This confidence and this absence of fear, those are very important things at his age.
