Emiliano Sala is missing – a plane that he was on travelling from Nantes to Cardiff last night disappeared over the English Channel. Follow here for the latest updates in this heartbreaking story.
Sala, 28, was the first player to join Bordeaux from Proyecto Crecer, a youth academy that the Ligue 1 club partnered with in Argentina, arriving in 2010.
He was 19 at the time and spent 5 seasons with Les Girondins, including loan spells at Orléans, Niort and Caen.
Bordeaux was also where Sala discovered his 2nd family: Marcelo Vada, the coach for the U16s at Bordeaux, an Argentinian, and Valentin, the coach’s son and Emiliano’s “little brother” who housed Sala during his time in the youth set-up at Bordeaux and whom he spent most of his daily life with.
Valentin Vada posted the following message on Twitter this morning:
Vamos hermano !! Aparece por favor !!! 🙏

At Bordeaux, Sala played just 13 times for the 1st team – but he left an indelible mark on staff and players at the club because of his strong attachment to Les Girondins despite not receiving the chances that he might have deserved, as well as his human qualities and his positive spirit.
Bordeaux coaches have watched his incredible rise with Nantes over the last 18 months not with disdain, but with great pleasure, according to Sud Ouest.
