RMC have today furthered assertions made by Gianluca di Marzio last night that French central defender Jean-Clair Todibo has decided that he wants to join Barcelona from Toulouse.
The 19-year-old recently refused to sign a professional contract with Les Violets, and has since been banished from 1st team activity. Todibo is a free agent in summer, with Juventus, Manchester City and Barcelona all in talks to attempt to sign the teenager.
For a while, Juventus was the preferred destination and the player’s agents, Bruno Satin and Simon Festinesi, worked to that effect. But now, three options are being considered with the Catalan club: either Todibo joins Barça in summer for free and Toulouse receive a small fee in solidarity youth formation payments, or the clubs reach a transfer fee agreement this month, or Todibo signs for free in summer but is loaned to Toulouse for the 2019/20 campaign. That final option would enable Toulouse to implement Todibo back into their first team squad as quickly as possible, but it does not seem to be the priority of either the club or the player.
Toulouse are hoping to earn something out of this deal and are working to sell Todibo – President Sadran was understood to have had an agreement with Manchester City, but the player turned it down.
