Speaking to Ouest-France, 25-year-old French winger Jimmy Cabot confirmed that he would leave Ligue 2 leaders FC Lorient at the end of the season when his current contract expires.
“There have been contract extension offers, notably last season, but my desire is not to extend… I need to go elsewhere. Not necessarily to Ligue 1. I will see which projects are offered to me. I am not against moving abroad. I will do everything I can to take this team to Ligue 1. That would be brilliant.”
This leaves Lorient with a conundrum – keep one of their best players for the rest of the campaign knowing that he will leave for nothing in summer or offload him now and recoup a fee, but potentially hurt their chances of promotion.
