Jürgen Klopp on what type of manager he is: “I am my players’ friend, but not their best friend.”

Speaking in an interview with Canal Football Club, Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp was asked to describe what type of manager he is.

“I am their friend, I am the friend of my players, but I am not their best friend. So, my job is to help them to play the best football that they can play. In my understanding you have to be close to them. It is a selfish thing as well, I like being close to them, because I want to be younger or whatever. Because I still want to be a player. But I am happy I am not a player now because what I am doing now I am much better in. If you really do it to together, really together, it feels better. It is just the way that I am, so my teams have to be like that as well.”
