Laurent Koscielny went off in tears vs St Étienne yesterday, but ankle seems ok

RMC report that initial examinations of 34-year-old Bordeaux central defender Laurent Koscielny’s ankle are promising, and that the ex-Arsenal man does not appear to have suffered from any Achilles damage.

The centre back was withdrawn in the 24th minute of yesterday clash between Bordeaux and St Étienne in tears after going down holding his ankle.

Further tests will be conducted at the beginning of this week – in May 2018, Koscielny ruptured his Achilles tendon in an injury that robbed him of a place in France’s World Cup-winning squad.
