Laurent Koscielny: “With the TV rights next season, Ligue 1 clubs will be able to show more ambition.”

Speaking in an interview with France Football, Bordeaux central defender Laurent Koscielny reflected on the differences between the Premier League and Ligue 1.

“It is a bit difficult to compare England and France. The intensity is much higher in England. There aren’t the same players, nor the same mentalities. This year, I think the French league is very tight, aside from PSG, even though they have already lost 3 matches. Anyone can beat anyone. It is a homogenous league, where small margins make the difference. The squads are good. It needs to continue to improve. With the TV rights next season, it will enable clubs to show more ambition, whether that is through transfers or infrastructures. To grow clubs, as well as the level of the youth academies. It’s a must. This is still a very good league. But it is not the same as it was when I left 10 years ago!”
