Leicester City & Stoke City enquire over deal for Guingamp striker Matthias Phaëton

RMC report that Leicester City and Stoke City have enquired via intermediaries about the possibility of signing 18-year-old EA Guingamp attacker Matthias Phaëton this month.

Phaëton arrived at the Ligue 1 side from Brest a year ago and made his debut professional appearance against Nantes last November, but the recent signing of striker Alexandre Mendy is calling into question the player’s future in the 1st team and he is no longer training with the main group.

Negotiations over a professional contract are ongoing with the player and the idea of him being loaned out immediately after signing is currently being discussed, with Le Havre and Clermont having enquired to that effect.

Guingamp have responded to the two English clubs interested in Phaëton that a transfer would be impossible, but the media outlet believes that a bid of €800k could be enough to make EAG consider a sale. Before joining Guingamp, Phaëton was close to a move to Juventus.
