Ligue 1 side Lille have submitted a provisional contract offer the 21-year-old Watford attacker Dodi Lukebakio, formerly of Toulouse, according to L’Équipe.
The youngster has had a fantastic campaign with Fortuna Dusseldorf in the Bundesliga this season, scoring 14 goals and laying on 5 assists in an undoubtedly productive loan spell.
The newspaper claims that to convince the Hornets will take at least €12m, and they are expecting between €70m to €80m for Nicolas Pépé, so such a deal shouldn’t be a problem, but they will still have to convince the Belgian.
That won’t necessarily be easy, as the player has bad memories of his time in Ligue 1 with Toulouse, who was seen by his team-mates as a bit of a slouch, per the newspaper. He also has told people privately that he prefers the style of play in the Bundesliga.
In the meantime, Schalke 04 and Bayer Leverkusen have positioned themselves in Germany and the latter side in particular have a considerable summer budget…
