L’Équipe report this morning that AS Monaco decision-makers are leaning towards allowing Youri Tielemans to join Leicester City permanently, where he is elated with life, with manager Leonardo Jardim wanting to bring Adrien Silva in full-time the other way, despite the Portuguese midfielder’s hefty salary.
The board, at the time of writing, appear to be behind this endeavour. Dmitry Rybolovlev, who will take control of transfer dealings this summer following the departure of Vadim Vasilyev, intends to undertake an ambitious overhaul to reach his goal of finishing 2nd in Ligue 1 in the 2019/20 campaign.
He intends to place all his trust in manager Leonardo Jardim and agent Jorge Mendes in terms of recruits, essentially agreeing to freeze out current Sporting Director Michael Emenalo, who Jardim now no longer speaks to, owing to how bad their personal relationship is.
Rybolovlev is willing to pay €30m on one player if he thinks that he can make value from the deal – the new old Monaco back? Time will tell…
