Speaking on the club’s official website, Montpellier HSC President Laurent Nicollin basically confirmed the imminent departure of midfielder Ellyes Skhiri.
“For the moment, we still do not have any offers and Ellyes is under contract. He will potentially go to the end of his contract and after that we will have discussions. If yes, it would be a frustration to have a player who we shaped at youth level, who you like, who you hope to give as good a new contract as possible because we cannot just do whatever. Now, I can understand that Ellyes would want to experience something else. It is frustrating because you try to build something, to have a competitive team whilst keeping your best elements… But we are not going to commit suicide, far from that. It is a shame because he is a guy who we appreciate enormously and who is entirely Pailladin.”
“I think that he has wanted to leave for a little while now, maybe he was disappointed not to be transferred last year, but in any case we didn’t have any offers. If I have to transfer him, I will wish him a good road because he deserves to be in a good club and to have a good AFCON with Tunisia.”
