Ligue 1 side Nîmes today announced the launch of an ambitious new stadium project to be completed in 2023.
They recently purchased Le Stade des Costières, with the ambition of demolishing it and rebuilding.
President Rani Assad had the following to say:
“We will play at the Costières until 2021. We will come back to the new stadium in 2023. The club will be the sole beneficiary of the stadium, 365 days a year. It can generate revenue throughout the year. The aim is to earn €10m a year in revenues from it for Nîmes.”
Assad later confirmed that the investment into it will be a little more than €200m excluding taxes. He also confirmed that the stadium’s name would not be bought by a sponsor and that a survey will be taken amongst supporters to give it a name.
