No Ferland Mendy – Real Madrid agreement

Contrary to reports in the Spanish media, there is no provisional contract agreement between Lyon left-back Ferland Mendy and Real Madrid, according to our reliable colleagues at L’Équipe.

Lyon have no intention of selling the French international full-back this summer, with Nabil Fékir the only individual who is officially going to be allowed to leave and Tanguy Ndombele also will be given the opportunity if the bids are as high as Lyon are expecting to receive (€80m +).

The 23-year-old is soliciting great interest from a number of European giants, including FC Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, Napoli, Juventus and Real Madrid.

There is currently no agreement on a salary between Real Madrid and Lyon nor have Los Blancos entered into fee negotiations with the Ligue 1 side. In recent weeks, Zinedine Zidane has indeed fallen in love with the player’s profile and has been making discreet enquiries with contacts about the quality of the player and to understand his personality.

OL will hold firm, but it is true that Lucas Hernandez’s departure from Atletico Madrid has set off a domino effect in the European left-back market and depending on the size of the fee, Jean-Michel Aulas is always keen to listen…
