Ligue 1 side Strasbourg have announced the departure of central midfielder Anthony Gonçalves to Normandy side SM Caen this morning on a 3-year contract.
The 33-year-old midfielder had another 12 months remaining on his current contract with RCSA, but has decided that he wants a new challenge, and subject to a medical the deal is done with Ligue 2 side SMC.
Gonçalves had the following to say on the move:
“Quitting Strasbourg was a difficult decision to take, but there are some offers that you cannot refuse and this is a new challenge that is being offered to me. I will never forget my experiences at Racing. Three marvellous seasons, unforgettable emotions and an amazing relationship with the supporters and the club. That will remain engraved in my heart as both a footballer and a man.”
