Madagascan international and 35-year-old left-sided defender Jérémy Morel has joined Europa League playing Rennes on a 1-year contract in a deal confirmed this evening.
The former Marseille man joins on a free transfer after his contract with Lyon expired at the end of last month.
This news will come as a shock to Brest, who had been in pole position to land him.
Morel had the following to say on the move:
“I am very enthusiastic and proud to join Rennes. I am going to do the best I can to bring my experience to the club. I had several approaches but from a football standpoint I could see myself best here. I hope to have made the right choice. It is up to me show it on the pitch to thank the president for believing in me.”
