Nantes have completed the loan signing of Portuguese defender Edgar Ié until the end of the season from Lille.
The 24-year-old, who can play in either central defence or at right-back, had made 42 appearances in his year-and-a-half in Northern France, where he signed for €3m from Belenenses, a record fee for the Portuguese side to receive.
Léfirst emerged as a professional at Barcelona – despite not making any appearances for the first team – after being signed from the Sporting Lisbon youth academy.
After moving to Lille, his impressive performances earned him his first senior cap for Portugal in November 2017, appearing as a substitute for Pepe in a 3-0 friendly win over Saudi Arabia.
The nature of the young defender’s progression as well as his versatility could well prove a valuable asset for Nantes manager Vahid Halilhodžić as the Ligue 1 campaign moves into the second half of the season.
