A signing of the Unai Emery era for €25m, the Spaniard endured a failed loan spell at Stoke City before impressing in Spain with Real Betis last season, even though the Andalusian side did not seek to purchase him permanently this summer.

Under contract with Les Parisiens until 2021, the Spaniard made his first appearance for the club since December 2016 on Friday night when he came on as a substitute against FC Metz.
