Ryad Boudebouz on Claude Puel: “When everyone feels involved & nobody feels like their position is safe, it changes everything.”

Speaking in an interview with RMC Sport, 29-year-old Algerian international and St Étienne attacking midfielder Ryad Boudebouz discussed the arrival of manager Claude Puel at Les Verts.

“In the team, everyone is involved. The coach has given a lot of players a chance, brought back competition and the cards have been redistributed. When everyone feels involved and nobody feels like their position is safe, it changes a lot of things. I hope that it will stay like this… I am very happy, he put me back on the pitch and we are winning matches. For example in the match against Lyon (1-0), the day after he arrived, he puts me back in my position and says in the team talk: ‘Give the ball to Ryad. He will organise play for us.’ It was something that, for me, was a strong sign. He arrives, he gives me back the keys to play and everything changes for me. In my head, I grew in confidence.”
