L’Équipe report that Andalusian side Sevilla have had three offers rejected for 20-year-old Bordeaux central defender Jules Koundé, worth €15m, €18m and €20m respectively.
The Bordeaux representatives seem in theory open to letting go of one of their bankable assets this summer in order to continue to build a competitive team. Negotiations between Sevilla and FCGB for Koundé opened last week, remain ongoing and could conclude in a transfer worth notably more than €20m.
Although the La Liga side have had 3 bids rebuffed, this does not mean that Les Girondins are completely closing the door to a sale. Parties with ties to the situation were as of Friday night confident that a deal would be struck.
A Bordeaux source had the following to say: “We were close to an agreement but now that it has been leaked to the press, I don’t know if a deal will be done, it will disturb negotiations.”
Last summer already, Sevilla had a €10m bid for Koundé rejected by FCGB. Back then, Sevilla representatives made it clear in verbal conversations that they were willing to offer double, but the former Bordeaux owners believed it was prudent to keep Koundé. Will Joe DaGrosa’s GACP feel the same? Only time will tell.
