RMC have provided some background on the decision for Dani Alves not to sign a contract extension with PSG, as announced by the Brazilian via Instagram on Sunday.
The outlet claims that the decision was taken by the Paris board, with multiple elements bring them to make this decision.
Firstly, his on-pitch performances – his games against Manchester United disappointed the coaching staff as well as his application in training sessions.
The second thing that frustrated Les Parisiens was his interview given to RMC on 11th April in which he said: “I know how to win, I would like to be listened to more often.”
They viewed this as disrespectful, not necessarily the sentiment, but Alves’ apparent need to go on the record with it. It also annoyed team-mates who in private felt that his behaviour was haughty and arrogant and was not befitting especially owing to his indifferent on-pitch performances.
Finally, the financial element also played a role, with Alves seeking €9m a year pre-tax being viewed as excessive by PSG, who, with FFP in mind, have other priorities.
