Thomas Tuchel: “I cannot defend my players.”

Speaking to Canal Plus after tonight’s 3-2 defeat vs FC Nantes, PSG manager Thomas Tuchel was frank in his assessment.

“I do not have any explanation. You need to ask the players, not me. I can see that they (seem a bit lost right now). Better not to say anything (to the players at this moment). Better. We are here to play a full season. Today, this performance was not a performance – that is the reality. We completely deserved to lose and the only thing we can say is sorry because if you play with the PSG shirt this is not possible. We have been trying to win the title for 3 matches now, but we are not capable, we have to tell it how it is. I have always defended my team but today there is nothing to defend – we clearly deserved to lose this match. We are lucky that it didn’t finish 5-1 or 4-1. If I say that, everything is said. And I cannot be confident that things will change in 3 days time at Monaco. I am worried – if you watch this match, it is better to be worried.”
