Speaking to reporters after a 3-0 friendly victory over Sydney FC, Thomas Tuchel discussed the future of Neymar and whether or not PSG’s transfer business was concluded following the arrival of Idrissa Gueye.
There is nothing new with regards to Neymar. For me, he is our player, we are training him. It is a question between the club and Neymar. For me, he is part of the dressing room, he trains, he is still my player. There is nothing new.
On PSG’s summer business:
I have never finished a transfer window at the end of July. Things can be crazy in football. But I am happy that he (Gueye) is with us now. He will only arrive around the date of the first match against Nîmes, on August 11th.
On playing Idrissa Gueye and Ander Herrera together:
They are not the same players. They don’t play in the same position. Herrera is a #8, a box-to-box player. Idrissa Gueye is a defensive midfielder, who gives us the possibility to play with one sole midfielder in front of the defence. He can also play in a two as a #6 or even maybe as an #8. But his ability to intercept and recover possession gives him a different profile to Herrera.
