L’Équipe report that a series of administrative irregularities in the contract between 21-year-old midfielder Pape Gueye and Premier League side Watford, who announced the arrival of the player from Le Havre on a 5-year contract yesterday, could scupper the deal.
Speaking to the French newspaper, Pierre-Henri Bovis, the player’s new representative, had the following to say:
“We do not deny the existence of an agreement with Watford through Pape Gueye’s former agent, but we point fingers at what could be seen as anomalies.”
Gueye has played 25 matches this season and captained the side on five occasions. Le Havre have been contacted by the newspaper but declined to comment.
