Speaking to the AFP, Marseille President Jacques-Henri Eyraud announced that 30-year-old Spanish central defender Alvaro Gonzalez would be at the club next season, having had an option to buy him after a loan spell from Villarreal:
“My intention was to sign him for 4 years in total, the option to buy was activated after 5 games.”
