Amiens manager Luka Elsner reacts to LFP decision to relegate his side to Ligue 2: “It is like a blow from a sword, a clean cut.”

Speaking to Le Courrier Picard, Amiens manager Luka Elsner discussed the LFP decision to terminate the 2019/20 season and relegate his club, despite there having been 10 games left to play in the campaign.

“Since I have been in football, I have never experienced a shock like this. Generally, we are the masters of our destiny and of our performances in football, but here, I was not expecting such a rapid decision. It is like being plunged by a sword, a clean cut. I fall from the clouds and I am very hurt. In sport, the basic principle is that opportunities are equal at the start and are the same at the end. If the decision is not made by action on the pitch, you cannot talk about sporting fairness. We are going to fight this decision through the possible channels.”
