Bayern Munich blocked Bouna Sarr from first France call-up

L’Équipe reveal that 28-year-old Bouna Sarr had been poised to receive his first international call-up for France today, with Didier Deschamps deciding to prioritise his call-up over Ruben Aguilar, who he eventually chose in his place.

Before calling up Aguilar, Deschamps sounded out Real Madrid full-back Ferland Mendy, but Los Blancos wanted to ensure that he was preserved over this break and then he opted for Sarr. Sarr accepted the call-up and everything had been prepped for his arrival at Clairefontaine, only for Bayern Munich to refuse to accept him being called up at the last minute.
