Speaking in an interview with Le Figaro, French international and Juventus central midfielder Blaise Matuidi sought to explain the secret to his very impressively clean injury record over his career to date, with him turning 33 in April.
“I don’t live like a monk and I touch wood that I do not to hurt myself. I’m a little lucky and I’m paying attention to my body. Whether it is in preparing for training, or matches, but I also do not neglect the warm down period which is just as important. We often talk about small details, that’s exactly it. Diet is important, I don’t have a chef, but my wife cooks very well. She takes care of me. Then I have small moments of weakness like everyone else. When the kids ask for a McDonalds, I enjoy it with them.”
On his future:
I am going to stay at Juventus (despite his current deal expiring in June), my contract includes the option to extend for a further year and the club has decided to activate that. I am very happy to continue here with another season. I was never in doubt as I felt the trust from everyone here. It is certain that I am beginning to reach a certain age and in my decisions, I am also thinking about my family, who feel good in Turin.
