The Court of Arbitration for Sport has today ordered Spanish side Sevilla to pay Ligue 2 club AS Nancy €3.7m in what brings an end to a protracted legal battle between the two sides that related to an unpaid clause in the transfer agreement of French international and now Barcelona central defender Clément Lenglet.
The 24-year-old moved to the Catalan giants in July of 2018, for a sum of €35m.
ASNL were due 12% of that sale owing to a sell-on percentage fee clause negotiated in their transfer agreement with Sevilla, €3.7m to be precise.
Sevilla contested this, arguing that Barcelona’s activation of the player’s release clause did not formally count as a transfer. They lost the legal battle.
Sevilla now have 45 days to pay Nancy the €3.7m.
