Erling Braut Haaland on his central defensive nightmare: “Van Dijk.”

Speaking in an interview with France Football, Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Braut Haaland answered a number of thought-provoking short questions.

What is the best memory from your short career so far?

I have a lot. The nine goals, that was good. My debut in the Champions’ League (17th September 2019, with RB Salzburg vs Genk, 6-2, with three Haaland goals), that was good. My debut with Dortmund, that was good. I have a lot. I cannot just choose one.

Who is the best player in the world right now in your opinion?

You are asking me lots of difficult questions. If I had to choose one, I would say… There are so many… Messi is incredible. Cristiano Ronaldo is incredible. I’ve loved watching every one of their games in the last 10 years. Each time, it has been incredible.

Is there a player who you dream of meeting?

Not really. For the moment, I have yet to play against Messi and Ronaldo. We will see.

What sort of defender do you hate coming across?

Van Dijk. He is so good. He is powerful, quick, he possesses all the qualities. He is an incredible player.

Where will you be in 10 years?

I have no idea. Of course I have dreams. But I have just arrived at Dortmund. I am very happy to be here. I want to enjoy every second, to do great things and think about nothing else.

You have a €70m release clause with Dortmund, is this merely a step for you?

I have just arrived. I am very happy here. I want to achieve many things. I am only concentrating on that. The stadium here gives me goosebumps, and I feel well-surrounded here.

Are you thinking a lot about this match vs PSG?

Not at all.

Do you have a message for PSG?

No. I am not thinking about this match. I am calm.
