FIFA studying possible mega summer window until 31st December

L’Équipe report that FIFA are considering instituting a mega summer transfer window to enable clubs to fully combat the ongoing disruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

FIFA have internally given the green light to artificially extend contracts that are currently due to expire on 30th June until the end of whenever the 2019/20 domestic season will be.

On top of that, the French newspaper reports that the governing body are considering moving the summer transfer window to open as soon as the current campaign concludes and to close it as late as 31st December 2020.

The rationale behind a mega summer transfer window is that this could allow clubs seasonal and financial flexibility to carry out various transactions, owing to the precarious financial position that teams might be in when the climax of this pandemic is over.
